De Danske Mejeriers Maskinfabrik

Had a leisure job as a working boy here the last 2 years of my high school time in the branch in Stilling near Aarhus.

My interest in mechanics and electronics was discovered by an engineer who, besides interesting work tasks with the repair of pipe machines, also used me in a new project on cleaning / maintenance of farm cooling tanks. I did some of the electrical work in a demonstration setup that was to be used at exhibitions and fairs. If the project later led to sales, I was unfortunately never told.

After the Second World War, a significant stainless steel industry arose in the Kolding area. The parent company was De Danske Mejerier Maskinfabrik (DDMM), whose roots go back to 1888. From this company, a large number of larger and smaller stainless steel companies have been started from this company since the 1950s, and a large number of supporting companies have been launched. It is estimated that more than 2,000 people work in the stainless steel industry in the Kolding area. To this must be added employees in affiliated companies.

Founded as K. Hansen & Schrøders Maskinfabrik, name change to the above 1905. Merged with A / S Paasch & Silkeborg Maskinfabrikker to Pasilac A / S 1977. Branches in Copenhagen, Odense, Stilling, Aalborg and Holstebro.

In Denmark, over time, there were three major competing machinery factories - in Silkeborg, Horsens and Kolding - specializing in dairy equipment. Silkeborg Maskinfabrik was by far the most export-oriented of the three companies. The association of the Danish companies took place in two stages.

In 1962, the companies in Silkeborg and Horsens were merged into Paasch and Silkeborg. The Danish Sugar Factory completed the merger by purchasing all three companies in 1975 and forming the group Pasilac A / S in 1977.
